BERKELEY COUNTY HOMICDES - Police say the deaths of a Berkeley County man and his 9-year-old son are being investigated as a double homicide.

Police first thought 56-year-old David Cole Hutzler shot his son, James Hutzler, set their mobile home on fire and then killed himself.

State police are saying that new physical evidence indicates both deaths were homicides. Details not available.

MAN THREATENS SCHOOL OFFICIALS - Police in Boone County have arrested Herman Dewayne Pickens, 53, of Peytona, after they say he threatened to bring a gun into an elementary school. Pickens was charged with making terroristic threats, a felony.

Pickens had visited the school several times this month and showed his empty holster to staff and "made threats of not leaving his gun in his vehicle the next time he came in."

Cpl. B.G. Browning responded and allegedly found a folding knife in Pickens' pocket and found a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun in Pickens' vehicle parked nearby.

Pickens is in Southwestern Regional Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bail.

MEN HOLD GUN IN WOMAN'S FACE - Two men were arrested Wednesday for kidnapping after a disturbance in Kanawha County.

911 received a call from a woman who said someone had a gun pointed at her face.

The victim alleged Timothy Bias, 53, of Charleston threatened to kill her and her dog unless she returned his pills.

A criminal complaint also alleges Charles Bronaugh, 48, of Campbells Creek, helped keep her in the apartment.

Police say the incident was likely drug related.

MAN THREATENS MOTHER AT JOB - Parkersburg Police responded to a GoMart at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday in reference to a man with a gun.

The suspect reportedly showed a pistol to his mother who is an employee of the store, demanding she give him food.

When officers arrived, James Patrick Summers, 21. allegedly refused to comply with commands to get on the ground.

Summers had to be forcibly taken to the ground and handcuffed. Once in custody, officers allegedly located an air pistol which looked like a real firearm, tucked in the front waistband of his pants.

Summers was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, brandishing a weapon, obstructing, and disorderly conduct.
