Braxton Middle School's Ben Fincham is making torturing Calhoun Middle School something of a habit.

In football the speedy Fincham scored five touchdowns in one quarter against the Red Devils, Earlier this season he led his team to a basketball victory over CMS and then on Thursday night he led the visiting Knights to a 42-14 win.

Fincham had 10 points but he wasn't the high point man for the Knights. That honor went to Drew Taylor with 11. Right behind those two was Cole Browning with nine.

Braxton took a 20-2 first quarter lead and after that was able to put things on automatic pilot. The Red Devils rallied a bit in the second quarter by taking a 4-2 advantage but the halftime score was 22-6.

Braxton Middle ended any comeback thoughts the Red Devils had by outscoring them 15-2 in the third quarter making the Red Devils' 6-5 fourth quarter advantage pretty much of a moot point.

Calhoun was led by Chris Thornton and Dave Jones with four apiece. Zack Yanero added three while Sonny Wilson chipped in with two and Jerry Jones one. Christopher Kirkland, Jackson Taylor and Trevor Carder all played but did not score.

One scary moment came late in the game when Dave Jones was on the bottom of a pileup and was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. He suffered a sprained ankle and should return to action next week.

Braxton Middle School also won the B game by slowly but surely putting CMS away for a 36-16 win.

The Knights took a 12-4 first quarter lead and pushed it out to 23-7 at halftime. A 12-2 edge in the third quarter made it 35-9 allowing CMS to have a 7-1 advantage in the final period without really being able to challenge for the win.

Carder led the way for the Red Devils with seven while Brady Fox added five, Buck Marks three and Damon Westfall one. Levi Gregory, Aaron West, Jaron Hall, Nolan Nelson, Jakiah Hickman, Ryan Miliron and Josh Schoolcraft all played but did not score.

Heath Cottrell had a game high 13 to lead Braxton. Hunter Bush and Jacob Oates added six apiece. Seth Arnold had four, Brandon Johnson three while Cody Dobbins and Josh Wilt both had two.

Calhoun Middle School will return to action Tuesday at home against Gilmer Middle School.
