He was a retired machine operator and enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife, Janet Kay Shaffer of Walton; a daughter, Tonya Kay Tague of Wichita, KS; a son, Terrence Lee Shaffer, Jr. of Margate, FL; mother, Frances Kleps of Rock Creek, OH; three sisters, Evelyn Elivira Johnson, Brenda Sue Mosier and Patricia Kay Lawson; one brother, Robert G. Shaffer, Jr.; five stepbrothers, William, Robert, James, John and Gary Kleps.

He was preceded in death by his father, William A. Kleps, Sr.

There will be a family gathering at noon Thursday at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer followed by a service of remembrance.
