NO CHARGES YET IN CALHOUN SCHOOL BOMB SCARE - Superintendent Says Evacuation Policy Being Reviewed

Charges have yet to be filed for causing a bomb scare at Calhoun Middle-High School one week ago.

After students were evacuated from the school, Calhoun Sheriff Carl Ballengee indicated authorities had a suspect, and State Police were questioning a 17-year-old female student regarding the incident.

Wednesday, Superintendent of School Roger Propst said, "Cpl. Bowles met with us as part of a debriefing on the day of the incident. He indicated he had indeed interviewed a student, but had not filed charges as of the end of the day," Propst says he was unaware on any arrests.

Propst said, "In our after-action meeting to discuss the events and our responses, we did discuss the concept of a "blast zone" and ensuring all students and staff are sufficient distance from the building after the evacuation for a "bomb" threat.

He indicated the school's evacuation policy for such situations would likely be updated.

West Virginia schools have been plagued with bomb threats, and some arrests have been made.
