GEARY TAKES TWO FROM CALHOUN MIDDLE SCHOOL

Calhoun Middle School started fine and ended fine but a two quarter drought in the middle of the game spelled he difference as Geary took a 37-17 victory over the visiting Red Devils Tuesday night.

Geary held a 9-7 lead after one quarter and the Red Devils appeared to have a good chance of getting their first win of the season. However, the Panthers outscored CMS 12-3 in the second period and 10-0 in the third to put things away.

Zack Yanero led Calhoun with seven. He was backed by Chris Thornton with four, Jackson Taylor with three, Dave Jones with two and Trevor Carder with one. Christopher Kirkland, Jerry Jones and Sonny Wilson all played but did not score.

David Nichols led Geary with 10 while Billy Beasley added eight and Brandon Morris seven.

Geary also took the B game by a 28-6 score. Geary took an 8-2 first quarter lead and double it to a 16-4 halftime advantage. Calhoun was blanked in the third quarter while Geary added five and the Panthers pulled away with a 7-2 edge in the final period.

Ben Frederick led Calhoun with four while Brady Fox scored two. Levi Gregory, Buck Marks, Aaron West, Jaron Hall, Nathan Nelson, Jakiah Hickman, Ryan Miliron, Josh Schoolcraft and Damon West all played but did not score.

Tyler Ricker and Dawson Roton led Geary with six each.

Calhoun will go after its first win of the season Thursday night when it entertains Braxton.
