THERE'S STILL ROOM ON CCCOA'S AMERICAN SOUTHWEST TOUR - Registration Deadline Friday

(07/17/2014)
Have you ever wanted to take a two-week tour of the great American southwest for less than $100 per day? Hurry, now's your chance!

Following up on last year's hugely successful two-week tour of the American northwest, the Calhoun County Committee on Aging is sponsoring a two-week tour of the American southwest for less than $100 per day (including large modern motorcoach transportation, all lodging, all breakfasts, 10 dinners, all attraction and site admission fees, luggage handling, taxes and meal gratuities) leaving Grantsville on September 10th and returning September 23rd.

Tourists will be treated to lodging the first night in the St. Louis area, followed by 2nd day travel to Oklahoma for a visit to the Will Rogers Memorial Museum. After spending the night in Tulsa, the group will travel on day 3 to Amarillo, Texas for a guided tour of the area and dinner at the famous Big Texas Steak Ranch.

On day 4, it's off to Albuquerque, New Mexico for admission to the Tinkertown Museum and an overnight stay, then to Boulder City, Nevada on day 5 for a three-night stay at the Hacienda Hotel and Casino.

Day 6 begins with a three-hour guided tour of Las Vegas with the rest of the day and for your own exploration and enjoyment of the fascinating sights and lights of the city. Day 7 brings a guided tour of The Hoover Dam, followed by a tour of The Valley of Fire State Park, where 150 million year-old eroded sandstone formations appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun's rays.

Day 8 takes the group to Arizona for a visit to the Route 66 Museum, which depicts the history of "America's Road," followed by a tour of the Mohave Museum of History and Arts. Day 9 features one of the tour's highlights: a 3/12 hour guided tour of the Grand Canyon followed by enjoyment of the Grand Canyon area and a spectacular Imax film, "Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets."

Day 10 treats the group with a ride through Petrified Forest National Park, where 200-million-year-old fossils tell the tale of the earth and its prehistoric inhabitants, and the marvels of Arizona's Painted Desert - where the tour continues to view the sites of many favorite Western films.

Day 11 in the heart of rodeo country is highlighted by a visit to the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum in Amarillo, Texas. Days 12 and 13 will feature the sights of the mid south landscapes as the tour heads back toward Grantsville for its arrival on day 14.

Further information is available at the Calhoun Country Committee on Aging main office in Grantsville at 304-354-7017 (Cindy or Crissy can tell you more) and on CCCOA's website www.cccoa-wv.org Hurry, registration for this great opportunity closes July 18th!
