CLAY MAN INDICTED BY FEDS FOR FIREARM VIOLATION

(01/14/2013)
A Clay County man formerly convicted of voluntary manslaughter has been indicted by a federal grand jury for being in possession of a weapon.

Jimmy Allen Woods, 50, of Bickmore, Clay County, allegedly had a .44 caliber revolver on Dec. 19, 2012.

Woods pleaded guilty in 1992 in Kanawha Circuit Court in the shooting death of William Satler at Nancy's Dinner Hole in Birch River.

Woods was 29 at the time of the 1990 murder.

The case was moved from Nicholas to Kanawha County because of pretrial publicity. As a result of the conviction, Woods lost the right to possess a firearm.

This is the second time Woods has allegedly violated that law.

He was convicted in 1995 in federal court of possessing a firearm.

He faces up to 10 years in prison this time if convicted.
