CLAY DOWNS CMS IN DOUBLEHEADER

By Gaylen Duskey realfang@citlink.net Clay jumped on top early and Calhoun Middle School was never able to get caught up as the Mustangs took a 42-20 victory over the visiting Red Devils Tuesday night. Clay outscored Calhoun 13-4 in the first and 9-6 in the second to grab a 22-12 halftime lead. The Mustangs also outscored Calhoun 9-6 in the third and topped it off with an 11-2 advantage in the fourth. Zack Yanero led Calhoun with 10 while Dave Jones added eight and Jerry Jones two. Christopher Kirkland, Chris Thornton, Jackson Taylor and Sonny Wilson all played but did not score. Levi Ramsay, Mason Clark and Zach Myers led Clay with eight apiece In the B game Calhoun reached 20 points for the first time this season but was on the wrong end of a 36-20 final score. Trevor Carder led the way with eight. Buck Marks had five and Brady Fox and John Watkins two apiece. Levi Gregory, Damon Westfall, Aaron West, Jaron Hall, Dolan Nelson, Jakiah Hickman, Ryan Miliron and Josh Schoolcraft all played but did not score. Thomas Haverty and Luke Burdette led Clay with nine each. Calhoun will try to get back on the winning track Thursday night when it travels to Walton.
