REMEMBERING: WELL-KNOWN CALHOUN MAIL CARRIER - Oda Carpenter (1914-2012)

2013 Well-known Calhouner, Oda E. Carpenter has passed at age 98. Oda loved his country and proudly served in WWII aboard the USS Fulton, a submarine tender in the Pacific. Returning to Calhoun, he was the rural mailman for many years for the Millstone, Arnoldsburg, Mt. Zion and Daniel's Run route. Oda was a stalwart at the Sand Ridge United Methodist Church, reveling in its historical contribution to the county. Round church trustees (L to R) Gordon McKee, Oda Carpenter, and Hurthel Garrett He was a charter member of the Masonic Lodge in Grantsville.
