FLU CASES HITTING 10 YEAR HIGH

(01/07/2013)
Flu cases are hitting a 10 year high in West Virginia.

West Virginia is one of more than 30 states that have seen a widespread outbreak of influenza early in the season, the worst since 2003-2004.

By mid-December, more than 10,000 West Virginians had been diagnosed with the flu or an influenza-type illness and hundreds with the virus have ended up in the hospital.

The latest report has not been compiled.

The good news, the vaccine this year seems to be a good match to the existing circulating strain of the influenza.

Like any other strain of flu, this year's virus hits the very young, elderly and those with chronic health problems the hardest.
