SMOKING BAN FOR HOTELS-MOTELS PROPOSED FOR MID-OHIO VALLEY REGION

(12/28/2012)
The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department is proposing to extend a smoking band in hotels and motels in the six counties it covers, Wood, Wirt, Calhoun, Ritchie, Roane, and Pleasants.

Smoking would be banned under Clean Indoor Air revisions proposed by the health department.

Department executive director Dick Wittberg says that smoking also would be prohibited at private functions in meeting and conference rooms at fraternal organizations.

Public comments on the proposed changes are being accepted.

The health department's board will consider the revisions in January.

If approved, the revisions would go into effect in the spring of 2014.
