Basil C. Bailey, 83 - West Salem Ohio

Basil C. Bailey, 83, of Congress Village, West Salem Ohio, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 at Wooster Community Hospital following a two week illness.

Basil was born Feb. 16, 1929 in Minnora, W.Va. the son of the late Okey and Mae (Badgett) Bailey and married Janet Brannon on Sept. 12, 1952. She survives.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War serving from 1951 - 1954. He retired from Rogers Overhead Door following 20 years of service and previously had worked at Locke Manufacturing. He had made his home in Congress for the past 23 years having previously resided in Canaan for 20 years. He was a member of the Wayne Co. Sheriff's Assoc. and enjoyed attending the Wayne Co. Fair, woodworking and spending time with family.

Surviving are his wife Janet; his four children, Lelah (Bryan) Buckwalter of Akron, Jeff Bailey of Liberty, KY, Ruby (David) Grau of Fredericktown and Loretta (Dave) Heath of Congress Village; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Delmar (Wanda) Bailey of Minnora, W.Va. and Holly (Nina) Bailey of Milton, W.Va.; a sister Myrl (Paul) Bailey of Newton, W.Va. sister-in-law Aunt Retta Miller who has been a wonderful help to the family and special friends Jay and Tessie Grunder.

He was preceded in death by a grandson; 2 infant brothers and 2 infant sisters.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg, where friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in the Clark Jarvis Cemetery at Chloe.
