(12/21/2012)
By Gaylen Duskey realfang@citlink.net In the first game of the season Ritchie Middle School player AJ Collins torched the Red Devils for 30 points as the Blazers won a lopsided game.

Thursday night Collins only had 15 but the game was still rather lopsided as the Blazers took a 60-19 victory.

Yet it was progress for the Red Devils since Ritchie won the first game 86-20.

The game was close early on as Ritchie took an 8-4 lead after one and pushed it to 18-9 at halftime.

But then the roof caved in as Ritchie outscored CMS 26-5 in the third and 16-5 in the final period.

Dylan Beall backed Collins with 10 points. No other Blazer hit double figures but Logan Reed added seven and Shane Davis and Zarek Napier had six each.

Zach Yanero took scoring honors for the Red Devils with a game high 16 points. He was backed by Chris Thornton and Jerry Jones with two apiece. Christopher Kirkland, Jackson Taylor, Ben Fredrick, Sony Wilson and Brady Fox all played but did not score.

Ritchie also won the B game by a 54-14 margin.

Ritchie jumped out to a 16-1 lead and the game was not close thereafter. Ryan Morton led Ritchie with 20 points. He was the only Blazer to hit double figures.

Trevor Carder scored all Calhoun's points.

Fox, Levi Gregory, Buck Marks, Aaron West, Jaron Hall, Nolan Nelson, Jakiah Hickman, Ryan Miliron and Josh Schoolcraft all played but did not score.

The Red Devils will return to action Jan. 3, 2013, at home against Spencer Middle School.
