| Melvin R. "Roy" Watson, 81, of Elizabeth WV went to be with the Lord on December 8, 2012 He was born on September 6, 1931 in Wirt County, the son of the late Dock and Sylvia Mae (Shears) Watson. He married the love of his life, Ocie Mae (Collins) Watson and was married for 41 years before her passing in April 9, 1993. He retired from CSX railroad in September of 1993 after 41 years of service. He had a wonderful retirement. He loved following his grandchildren and great grandchildrens sporting and dance events over the years. He was an avid Wirt County Tiger fan and loved spending time on the family farm. His family and friends were the most important part of his life. He had a special place in his heart for his dear friends Ken and Mae Thompson and the Crew at Ellison Dozer service. He particularly missed two wonderful friends Paul Wine and Lloyd Edwards that had passed on before him. He is survived by his three children, Linda (Richard) Board of Palestine WV, Rodney (Becky) Watson of Elizabeth, Gary (Shannon) Watson of Elizabeth; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; 2 aunts Gladys Watson and Imogene Watson of Parkersburg WV. Roy is preceded in death by both his parents, wife, 4 brothers Mick, Jack, Ken and Ivan Watson and sister Donna Randolph. Services will be Monday December 10, 2012 at 11 am at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth WV, Rev. Mark McCloy and Rev. John Watkins officiating. Visitation will be Sunday Dec 9, 2012 4-8 pm and Monday from 9 am until time of service. Interment will be at K of P Cemetery of Elizabeth WV. Online condolence mathenywhited.com |
