Rev. James Loren Anderson, 86, of Reedy, Wirt County, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the Arbors at Marietta, Marietta, Ohio.

He was born September 1, 1926 at Maysel, Clay County, a son of the late James William and Victoria Ann Griffin Anderson.

Rev. Anderson was an ordained American Baptist minister, who served several area churches. He was a member of the Two Runs Baptist Church, Palestine.

A 1946 graduate of Spencer High School, he also graduated from Glenville State College in 1958. He began teaching in a one room school in Wadesville and continued his teaching career at Washington Elementary, Edison Junior High and Washington Junior High before retiring in 1981.

Rev. Anderson was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was the Two Runs Community correspondent for the Wirt County Journal and a Past President of the Wirt County Committee on Aging.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Freda Fern Marple Anderson; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Jeff Slater of Belpre, Ohio; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. James L. and Susan Anderson, Jr. of Frankford and Larry D. and Cindy Anderson of Ironton, Ohio; two sisters, Tressie Jarvis and Marilee Redlinger; a brother, Kermit Anderson; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Friday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Charles E. Leisure officiating. Burial, with military rites accorded by the W.Va. Honor Guard, will be in the Hodam Cemetery, Spencer. Friends may call at the funeral home two hours before the service.
