CALHOUN MAN KILLED IN RITCHIE CRASH - Four Vehicle Crash On US 50, Five Sent To Hospital

A Calhoun County man, Jonathan Newell, 39, has died from injuries he received early Monday morning in a four vehicle crash on US 50 in Ritchie County. Newell and his wife Leann Holbert Newell lived on Munday Road near Big Bend. Authorities say at least four other individuals in the crash were taken to regional hospitals, with at least one person being ejected from a vehicle. State Police have released little information about the accident at the intersection of State Rt. 74 and US 50 near Pennsboro. It happened around 6:30 a.m. Monday morning. Authorities are saying that weather conditions could have played a role in the accident. Police say they have called a re-constructionist to the scene. The westbound lane of US 50 was closed most of Monday morning. Ritchie and Doddridge responders went to the scene.
