| Nora F. McCord, age 77 of Toler Run Road, Sand Fork, WV departed this life at 8:26 a.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington following a brief illness. She was born January 31, 1935 in Lewis County a daughter of the late Ira and Elizabeth Ables Curtis. Nora was a homemaker, member of the Gilmer Co. Senior Citizens, loved the outdoors especially doing yard work, flower and vegetable gardening. She had a great passion for fishing and during the season could not pass up a yard sale. She was a former member of the Chestnut Lick Community Church before it closed. On December 16, 1993 she was united in marriage to Eugene "Piper" McCord who survives at their Toler Run Rd home. Also surviving are one daughter and two sons, Loretta McCumbers of Sand Fork, Robert Ball and wife Louise of Sand Fork, Harvey Ball and wife Georgiana of Victor, WV; five grandchildren, Jessica Montgomery, Erica Dennison, Steven McCumbers, Christopher Ball, Shawn Ball; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, Oley Curtis of Walkersville. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death, Frankie Curtis, Clarence Curtis, James Curtis and Bonnie Groves. Funeral services will be held at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2012 with Rev. Clifford Reaser officiating. Burial will follow in the Jacksonville Cemetery, Orlando, WV. Friends may call 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. (the funeral hour) at the Mortuary. Ellyson Mortuary, Inc. is assisting the family of Nora F. McCord with arrangements.
