Aileen Cummings Looney - Big Chimney

Aileen Cummings Looney of Big Chimney, West Virginia, died November 6, 2012 at home after a short illness.

She was born on November 10, 1926 in Roane County, a daughter of the late Roy H. and Florence Grady Cummings. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James M. Looney in 2000.

She was retired from Kanawha County Schools where she was a cook at Big Chimney Elementary School and was a member of the Elk Valley Christian Church.

She is survived by three sons, James Michael Looney and wife Joyce of Gandeeville, West Virginia, Daniel H. Looney and wife Karen of Gandeeville, and Nathaniel Leland Looney of Charleston, West Virginia; a daughter, Lystiann Aileen Looney of Charleston; five grandchildren, Erin Myers and husband Jamie of Monroe, North Carolina, Jennifer Saunders and husband Justin of Spencer, Patrick Looney and wife Casey of Gandeeville, Benjamin Looney and wife Terra of Big Chimney, and David Looney and wife Micah of Gandeeville; eight great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one step-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Audrey Dodd of Petersburg, West Virginia.

A private graveside service was held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Cummings Cemetery on Long Ridge with Pastor Rick Sams officiating.

The family wishes to express gratitude for care provided by hospice over the past weeks, especially Jill, Pat, and Jennifer and requests donations to hospice in lieu of flowers to Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W., Charleston, WV 25387.

Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of the arrangements.
