SEVEN FIRE DEPARTMENTS RESPOND TO RITCHIE FOREST FIRE - 150 Acre Fire In Jackson

With rainfall scarce and the woods laden with layers of leaves, forest fire risk is high, although rain is in the forecast. Jackson County had a 150-acre forest fire Friday night. Calhoun had its first brush fire of the season this week, a small one. Ritchie County had a 100 acre fire Thursday that burned for five hours. The fire was in an area at the Ritchie/Tyler County line. Fire departments responding were Pennsboro, Ellenboro Volunteer Fire Department, Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department, Middlebourne/Tyler County Volunteer Fire Department, West Union Volunteer Fire Department, Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department, Sistersville Volunteer Fire Department and Ritchie County EMS. officials said. The West Virginia Division of Forestry is investigating.
