Nellie Lou Coburn Harris, 80 - Big Bend

Nellie Lou Coburn Harris, 80 of Big Bend, West Virginia, departed this world for her heavenly home Oct. 23, 2012 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

She was born on April 10, 1932 in Salem, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth Coburn. She was a 1950 graduate of Doddridge County High School.

She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Grantsville where she was a Sunday school teacher, BYF Leader and custodian for many years.

She worked at Rubber Fabricators in Grantsville, Garment Factory in Harrisville, Godfrey's Store in Grantsville and was a foster parent, a good Christian woman who enjoyed seeing family and friends and sharing the word of God.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and aunt devoting her life to her family and to God. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nellie is survived by her five children, Jerry "Fuzzy" (Kathryn "Kookie") Harris of Grantsville, Terry (Donzel "Nick") Jones of Big Bend, Loren "Mike" (Tammy) Harris of Terra Alta, WV, Sandra (Dennis) McCumbers of Grantsville, Roberta "Bert" (John) Roberts of Ravenna, Ohio; three stepchildren, Veda (Jack) Wright of Elizabeth, Nolan Harris of Elizabeth and Velma Kirby of Grantsville; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Roger) Longwell, Nikki (Michael) Boatright, Kristin (Kevin) Miller, Jessica Harris, Chad (Jaime) Roberts, Chase Roberts, Jacob McCumbers, Noelle and Jordan Harris, Mark Charlie (Jan) Harris; eight great grandchildren, Caleb Schoolcraft, Tea Boatright, Tesa and Taneekah Longwell, Madison and Lexi Miller, Kailtyn Roberts, Mackenzie Bevel.

Also one great-great grandchild, Chase Lockhart-Schoolcraft; sixteen step-grandchildren, Tina Cunningham, Cheri Lockhart, David Harrington, Jimmie Cunningham, Tracy Harris, Chris Griffin, Robbie Kirby, Betty Hostottle, Angie Kinder, Nancy Kirby, Sheila Brannon, Linda Shinol, Junior Copen, Beulah Little, and Missy Copen; siblings, Linda Davis and Mary Coburn both of Pennsboro. Gene (Joyce) Coburn of Beverly Hills, FL., Betty (Bill) Gault of Ashland, Ohio, Brenda (Barry) Riddle of Sandusky, Ohio and Carol (John) Shearon of Marietta, Ohio. Sister-in-laws: Murdayne "Timmy" (Frank) Finley of Marion, Indiana and Deanie Brady of Walker, WV, several nieces and nephews and many friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Loren "Buck" Harris; great granddaughter Kaylee Jones; sisters, Barbara Sutton and Margarette Fitzpatrick; brother, Arthur "Sonny" Coburn; stepchildren, Charles "Buddy" Harris, Rena Sidwell, Delmas Harris, Jimmie Harris, Sharon Shuman.

Funeral service will be held Sunday, October 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Grantsville with Pastor Gene Johnson officiating.

Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville, and one hour prior to the service at Bethlehem Church.
