Lloyd Richard "Dick" Stalnaker age 83 of Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life at 9:08 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2012 in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, West Virginia, following a brief illness. He was born April 16, 1929 at Letter Gap, Gilmer County, West Virginia, son of Wynona Brannon Stalnaker of Letter Gap, WV and the late Okey Stalnaker Jr. Dick attended Normantown High School and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a former truck driver, construction worker & farmer. He delivered the Exponent/ Telegram for several years, was a Tax Assessor in Gilmer County, where he was elected for 8 terms, and served for 29 1/2 years. He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, member of the Glenville Lion's Club, and Kanawha Drive Community Inc. On November 21, 1947 Dick was united in marriage to Marito Furr Stalnaker who survives at their Kanawha Drive Farm. Surviving are: 2 Sons, Michael Richard "Mike" Stalnaker and wife Terri of Glenville, WV. and Patrick Lloyd "Pat" Stalnaker of Glenville, WV; 1 Granddaughter, Stacey Stalnaker of Glenville, WV; 1 Great-grandson, Jack Norman of Glenville, WV; 2 Brothers, Okey Lee Stalnaker and wife Margaret of Letter Gap, WV and Bill Stalnaker and wife Betty of Glenville, WV; 1 Sister-in-law, Audra Stalnaker of Letter Gap, WV. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by: (1 brother) Gene Stalnaker and 1 Daughter-in-law, Robin Stalnaker. Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville WV; at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mortuary. Ellyson Mortuary, Inc. is assisting the family of Dick Stalnaker with arrangements.
