Calhoun Middle School Volleyball Girls traveled to Braxton County Saturday for the CWVAC finals tournament.

Calhoun was the #1 seed in the tournament for being undefeated in conference play at 10-0.

CMS started the day being defeated by Clay in two games in the double elimination tournament.

Calhoun went to the losers bracket and fought their way out by defeating #3 Geary in three games, Spencer in two games, and #2 Braxton in two games before hitting the finals against Clay.

Clay had not lost that day, which meant Calhoun would have to beat Clay in not only one set of games but two.

Calhoun defeated Clay in the first set of matches in two games. Calhoun hit the finals with Clay and defeated them in two games becoming the CWVAC 2012 CHAMPIONS!

Calhoun Middle School Girls Volleyball finished the season with a record of 16-4. The team was honored with the 1st Place trophy and awards were presented.

All-Conference Awards went to Makayla Smith for 182 season points and Ashley Hersman for 158 season points. All-Tournament awards were received by Hannah Allen for 68 points and Tori Allen for 57 points for tournament play.

Game 1 CMS defeated by Clay 22-25 and 19-25.

Makayla Smith 8 points (4 aces), Ashley Hersman 8 points (3 aces), Makayla Davis 8 points (2 aces), Hannah Allen 7 points, Tori Allen 7 points, Callie Cooper 3 points.

Game 2 CMS Defeats Geary 9-25, 25-21 and 25-17.

Hannah Allen 16 points, Tori Allen 11 points, Ashley Hersman 9 points, Makayla Smith 9 points, Makayla Davis 8 points, Callie Cooper 3 points, and Alisha Fulks 3 points.

Game 3 CMS Defeats Spencer 25-13 and 25-16.

Tori Allen 14 points (6 aces), Makayla Smith 10 points (5 aces), Makayla Davis 10 points (3 aces), Hannah Allen 7 points, Ashley Hersman 6 points (1 ace), Callie Cooper 2 , Alisha Fulks 1 point.

Game 4 CMS Defeats Braxton 25-21 and 25-16.

Makayla Smith 12 points (5 aces), Tori Allen 11 points (3 aces), Hannah Allen 9 points (2 aces), Makayla Davis 8 points (3 aces), Ashley Hersman 6 points (1 ace), Callie Cooper 2 points, Alisha Fulks 2 points.

Game 5 CMS Defeats Clay 25-18 and 25-23.

Hannah Allen 19 points, Makayla Smith 10 points (8 aces), Ashley Hersman 8 points, Makayla Davis 7 points, Tori Allen 4 points, Callie Cooper 2 points.

Game 6 FINALS - CMS Defeats Clay 25-21 and 25-15.
