Darlene Scott, 78 - Reedy

Darlene Scott, 78, of Reedy, West Virginia, died Friday, October 19, 2012 in the Roane General Hospital, Extended Care Unit, Spencer, after a long illness.

She was born October 22, 1933, at Reedy, a daughter of the late Glen and Opal Fore Moss, Sr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Phillip B. Scott in 1995; and a sister, Willadean Caufman.

Mrs. Scott was a retired Executive and Legal Secretary. Also, she had been a recorder and reporter for the legal community in Spencer. She had been employed as the executive secretary to John Martin, former president of the Spencer Manufacturing Co. (aka Kellwood Corp.), legal secretary for Wm. S. Ryan, Roane County Prosecuting Attorney and later for the Ryan and Scott Law Firm, Spencer. Also, she was a former secretary for the UMC Spring Heights Center near Spencer.

She was a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church and a graduate of Spencer High School.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Judge George M. Scott of Reedy; grandson, Samuel C. Scott of Pinch; daughter-in-law, Susan B. Scott of Pinch; sisters, Mary Evans of Parkersburg, June Holub of Columbus, OH, Helen Potsus of Conn., and Geneva Flesher of Reedy; brother, Glen Moss, Jr. of Parkersburg.

A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, October 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Michael Ludle officiating. Burial will be in the Snodgrass Cemetery, Gandeeville.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
