Carol Jean Marple, 69 - Spencer

Carol Jean Marple, 69, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Roane General Hospital in Spencer.

She was born March 5, 1943 in Roane County, a daughter of the late John Brown Greathouse, Jr. and Pearl V. Grayam Greathouse.

Carol was formerly employed at Kellwood and was also a caregiver for the elderly. She enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds, collecting hummingbirds, and spending time with her family. She attended the Slate Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Victor Marple, Jr.; two daughters, Barbara Marple and Mike Church of Spencer and Sandra and Charlie Morton of Clover, West Virginia; a son, Jeff Marple of Spencer; a sister, Shirley Cole of Spencer; two brothers, Johnny Greathouse of Spencer and Jimmy Greathouse of Gandeeville, West Virginia; and two grandsons, Levi Morton and Victor Alan May Marple.

Service will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer with Rev. Danny Whited officiating. Burial will be in the Greathouse Cemetery near Spencer. Visiting hours will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
