Mae Marie Bird, 84 - Spencer

Mae Marie Bird, 84, of Spencer, WV died October 9, 2012 at her home.

She was born January 2, 1928 at Richardson, Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Guy and Lydia Lukens Blosser.

She was proud to have served as a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II in Akron, Ohio, where she served as a spot welder. She was also an employee of the former Kellwood Company of Spencer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Bird; daughters, Vickie and Martha Jane Caldwell; brothers Guy Jr., Okey, Robert, and Wayne Blosser; sisters, Bernice Cycyk, Frances Houchin, Maxine Nichols, Vonnie Cline, and Betty Sue Carper.

She is survived by daughters, Alberta Kendall of Spencer, and Sandra Santee of Reedy WV; a son, James C. Caldwell Jr. of Marietta, Ohio; stepdaughter, Jacqui Nutter of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Wilca Stewart of Reedy, and Genevive Carpenter of Nitro WV.

Funeral service will be Friday, October, 12, at 10 a.m. at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Bro. Bill Walton officiating. Burial will be in the Spencer Memorial Cemetery, Spencer. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
