WV LEAST ENERGY EFFICIENT AMONG STATES

(10/04/2012)
A new report says the Mountain State ranks nearly last in energy efficiency.

The report states that West Virginia is one of ten states most in need of improvement, according to the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy.

The ranking is based on the state's energy efficiency policies and programs and the efficiency of power companies.

In states that are implementing plans for energy efficiency, $1.8 billion dollars in energy savings were passed on to consumers last year.

The report says being energy efficient also requires new technology and creates well paying jobs.
