(09/26/2012)

This white ash tree at Calhoun Park is not long for the world ...

... a victim of the the Emerald Ash Borer

A familiar vista, the Calhoun County Park, is changing as a large white ash at the meadow's edge dies from an infestation of emerald ash borers.

The stem of the tree is riddled with holes made by woodpeckers going after the ash borer larvae.

The state's white ash trees are dying, with nothing yet discovered to stop their death.
