Opal Summers, 90 - Canal Fulton, Ohio

Opal Summers of Canal Fulton went home to be with her Lord on September 23, 2012 after a brief illness. She was ninety years old. She lived in Barberton and Canal Fulton OH for sixty years.

Born April 12, 1922, in Orma WV to Saul and Viola McCune, she was the oldest of fourteen children. On July 17, 1952, she married Oswald Summers, whom survives her, and they were married for sixty years.

Opal attended school in Calhoun County, WV. She worked for Firestone in Akron, OH during World War II.

Surviving in addition to her husband are sisters Edna Conley, Faye (Harold) Richards and Daisy (Max) Shifflet of WV; brothers Cecil (Virginia) McCune, Burl (Nadine) McCune of WV and Darrel (Penny) McCune of OH.

Preceding Opal in death are sisters Pearl Cottrell, Hazel Miller, Ocie McCune, Mae Davisson, Ruth Summers and Marie Minney; and one brother, Donald McCune. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 27, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at the Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg with the Rev. Tim Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Orma UMC Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the services.
