Slade Nichols 52 - Spencer

Slade Nichols 52, of Egypt Ridge in Spencer, West Virginia passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, September 23, 2012.

He was born May 13, 1960 a son of Hazel C. Wright Nichols of Egypt Ridge and the late Perry J. "Junior" Nichols. He was a self-employed painter and enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was a very loving family man.

In addition to his mother, Slade is survived by his lifelong companion, Edie McGlothlin; a step-daughter, Heather Keeney; a grandson, Nikollaj; five sisters, Violet Church and Norma Tatterson, both of Spencer, Jewell Carper of Ripley, West Virginia, Lisa Valvo of Parkersburg, West Virginia and Jodie Nichols of Charleston, West Virginia; three brothers, John and Bill, both of Spencer, and Aaron of Wirt County, West Virginia; twelve nieces and nephews; and 14 great-nieces and nephews.

Per his request, the body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no service or visitation at the funeral home.

Slade's family would like to thank the Roane General Hospital doctors and staff, the Roane County EMTs, and everyone else sending food and for their prayers during this difficult time.
