Charles "Leroy" McHenry, 66 - Cedarville

Charles "Leroy" McHenry age 66 of Cedarville, West Virginia, departed this life after an unexpected heart attack on Friday September 21, 2012 at his residence.

Born on November 21, 1945 in Sand Fork, West Virginia, son of the late Arden Lee and Garnet Pearl Radcliff McHenry.

Leroy was a graduate of Sand Fork High School, Class of 1964. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a Sergeant in the Army, where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and several other medals during his tour of service. He was a Baptist by faith and attended the Dawson Baptist Church and was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Leroy enjoyed studying the Bible, attending antique car shows in which he received numerous trophies. He especially enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and helping out his neighbors.

On January 11, 1969 he was united in marriage to Inas Dobbins Riffle McHenry, who survives at their Cedarville home.

Along with his wife, Leroy is survived by daughter Angela Moore (James and Cheyenne), son Matthew McHenry; stepchildren Diane McCullough (Tom), Dale Riffle (Melinda) and Darlene Heater (Larry); sister Margie McHenry Flower (Jim); brothers Kennard McHenry, Gerald (Linda) McHenry and Arden McHenry Jr. (Phyllis); mother-in-law Sylvia Dobbins; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews; and Leroy and Inas together were foster parents to over 30 children.

In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Leonard McHenry, Basil McHenry and one infant; and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. Glenville, West Virginia, at 11:00 a.m., Monday September 24, 2012 with Rev. Mike Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Dobbins Cemetery in Cedarville WV. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday at the Mortuary.
