DIFFICULT TIMES - Health Problems Plague Calhoun Families

(07/18/2002)
Former Calhoun County Commissioner and DHHR employee, Tom Gainer of Russett, is undergoing surgery today in Cleveland Clinic, suffering from an extended bout with cancer.

Gainer has been in remission for a period of time, and returned to his normal activities in the community, his upbeat participation in the Lions Club and work with the the Calhoun County Library.

Carol Joann Kerby, wife of Chuck Kerby of Mt. Zion ridge, is currently in the Critical Care Unit of St. Joseph Hospital, and her son, Larry "Bear" Kerby has been seriously ill in the Cleveland Clinic, waiting for a heart transplant.

Numerous callers and e-mails have requested cards and prayers for these individuals, well-known to our community.

We hope to obtain mailing addresses today.
