TWO ROANE SCHOOLS GET $303,000 STUDY MONEY TO PREVENT FLOODING

(09/18/2012)
The WV School Building Authority has approved funding to prevent flooding at two schools in Roane County.

The authority approved $303,846 for the U.S. Army of Corps of Engineers to conduct feasibility studies on how to prevent future flooding along the Pocatalico River behind Walton Elementary and middle schools.

Roane Schools will provide $30,000 for the project.

Once the study is complete, the actual remediation would cost about $950,000.

The SBA says this preventive measure is very important to protect the students in Roane County.
