Ernest Edward Long, 90 - Spencer

Ernest Edward Long, 90, of Spencer WV died at 4:30 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2012, in Eldercare of West Virginia, Ripley, after an extended illness. He was born June 22, 1922, in Julian, Boone County, a son of the late Everett and Julie Kirk Long. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Icy Mae Long; five brothers and five sisters. Mr. Long was a retired employee of the Kirby Company, Cleveland, OH. He was a devout Christian and a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, Spencer. Survivors include a sister, Mae Stephens of Julian; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Long has been cremated. There will be a memorial service for him Saturday, September 22 at 1:00 p.m. in the Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Homer Hensley officiating. His cremated remains will be buried in the Hill Cemetery, Julian. John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
