FORMER GRANTSVILLE POLICEMAN CHARGED - Basnett Released On Bond

Former Grantsville policeman Warren Basnett, Jr., 28, has been charged with domestic battery and stalking by Leslie Dawn Basnett, his wife, according to the Calhoun Magistrate Court.

The complaint alleges incidents which occurred in December, 2001 at their residence. The complainant reports Basnett "keeps harassing and following her" and she fears for her safety.

Basnett was charged in magistrate court by Sheriff Allen Parsons on July 13, and released on bond.

Basnett served as a Grantsville policemen in 2000-01, in addition to being an auxiliary police officer. Mayor Gary Knight said "We deeply regret Warren's troubles have reached this point. We are sorry and have best wishes for all parties involved."

Knight said his function as an auxiliary policeman will cease until his innocence of any wrongdoing is established.
