KANAWHA SHOOTING - Kanawha County sheriff's deputies expect to file charges against two St. Albans-area women who got into a fight that ended when one allegedly shooting the other with an air rifle.

Tara Jo Turley, 37, was treated by paramedics for an air-rifle wound to the neck, according to Capt. Bryan Robbins of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies believe Turley got into a fight with Jacqueline N. McClanahan, 30.

A criminal complaint alleges that Turley assaulted McClanahan with a baseball bat, and deputies believe McClanahan then allegedly shot Turley with the air rifle.

Turley was taken to CAMC General Hospital. Deputies expect to charge Turley with battery and McClanahan with malicious wounding.

CHARLESTON MAN STABBED - A Charleston man was stabbed early Friday on the city's East End.

Eric Desmond, 37, said he was walking to the store at about 1:40 a.m. when he stopped to count money in his wallet.

Desmond told officers that Granville Smith, 47, of Rand, walked up and engaged Desmond in conversation, allegedly taking his money or cards.

Smith allegedly slashed at Desmond with a knife, cutting him on the neck.

Desmond was taken to CAMC General Hospital for treatment, Hodges said. Smith was captured a short time later and charged with malicious wounding.
