CALHOUN SCHOOL RECEIVES AMERICORPS GRANT - Improve Student Attendance & Drop-Out Rate

Calhoun Middle High School has been awarded a grant through AmeriCorps to improve student attendance and reduce the dropout rate.

The grant allows for two part time workers to work at the school for forty weeks accruing approximately ninety hours each month.

While AmeriCorps workers are technically volunteers each person will receive $640.00 monthly and a $2,775.00 Education Award.

Applicants should be comfortable working with students and community. Qualifications include some college coursework and/or college degree preferred, strong interest in education, early childhood, & adolescent development or social work, experience working with school-age children, families and education professionals preferred, must be responsible, organized and self-motivated, must maintain positive attitude and display patience in work setting, and become integrated member of assigned service site.
