(07/15/2002)
Funeral services are scheduled today in Elizabeth for 63-year-old Burly Roy Lockhart, who died Thursday evening after he stepped in front of a car on State Route 5.

Lockhart, who lived just east of Elizabeth, wandered on the highway, when Burning Spring's resident John Griffin, 38, struck the man. Griffin had left his job with the West Virginia Department of Highways, when the incident happened.

Authorities said Griffin was traveling at a slow rate of speed, indicating the accident was unavoidable.

No charges have been filed.
