SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. BIG FISH - If you have a trophy fish caught from West Virginia waters, it's wanted for the trophy fish display at West Virginia's National Hunting and Fishing Days, September 22-23, 2012, at Stonewall Resort State Park near Weston in Lewis County.

"There are some real monster fish swimming in Mountain State waters, and each year the West Virginia Wildlife Federation and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources showcase legally caught trophy fish at the National Hunting and Fishing Days event," said display organizer James Walker, WVDNR fisheries biologist.

"This will be the fifth year that a West Virginia trophy fish display of mounted specimens has been exhibited in conjunction with West Virginia's Celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day, and every year the display has been a tremendous attraction."

Interested anglers who have qualifying fish mounts should contact James Walker at 304-924-6211 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or email James.A.Walker@wv.gov for additional information. Registration forms also can be found on the WVDNR website at www.wvdnr.gov Look under "Special Opportunities, National Hunting & Fishing Days."

Participation will be limited to 25 qualifying trophy entries to be determined by the selection committee. No more than five individuals of any species will be accepted.

As an incentive for participation, each angler who displays his or her trophy fish mount at the two-day event will be eligible to win one of four $200 gift certificates. Prizes will be picked randomly.

ROANOKE, W.Va. BIG BUCKS - If you have a legally harvested and mounted West Virginia big buck trophy, you may be able to show it off to an appreciative audience in September.

The West Virginia Wildlife Federation, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources and Toyota are seeking hunters who own trophy white-tailed bucks that were legally taken in West Virginia with either bow or gun and have a Pope & Young or Boone and Crockett score of 150 or greater.

The purpose of this search is to set up a West Virginia Big Buck Display at West Virginia's Celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day, September 22 - 23, 2012, at Stonewall Resort State Park near Weston in Lewis County. This is the largest event held at a West Virginia state park, attracting thousands of visitors annually. Toyota has been the primary sponsor of the West Virginia Big Buck Display at National Hunting and Fishing Days for the past five years.

Interested hunters who have qualifying head or antler mounts should contact Gene Thorn at 304-924-6211 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for additional information or a registration form. Additional information and registration forms may also be found on the West Virginia Big Buck Display webpage at www.wvdnr.gov/hunting/wvbigbucks.shtm

Participation will be limited to the first 30 qualifying trophy entries received. As an incentive for participation, hunters who display their trophy deer at the two-day event will be entered into an exclusive drawing for several valuable prizes.
