Gary Wayne Harper, 57 - Spencer

Gary Wayne Harper, 57, of Spencer, West Virginia, died at 4:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at his home, after an extended illness.

He was born October 6, 1954 at Advent, a son of the late Harry and Mary Parsons Harper.

Gary was a retired employee of the A.J. Rose Company, Cleveland, Ohio and a farmer. He was an Army veteran. He enjoyed raising cattle and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Reynolds Harper of Spencer; daughter, Melissa Hackney of Advent; sons, Gary W. Harper, Jr. and Lonnie Harper both of Spencer; sister, Lorene Myers of Walton; brothers, Okey Harper of Cleveland, OH, David Harper of Kenna, Raymond Harper of Spencer, Steve Harper of Gandeeville and Jerry Harper of Sutton; six grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Rick Perrine officiating. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery, Spencer. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
