Alonzo Leslie Boggs, Sr., 64, died at 10:50 p.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2012, in the Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery, Blacksburg, VA, after a long illness. He was born February 29, 1948, in Gandeeville, a son of the late Perry and Amy Warner Boggs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Ed Boggs, Maxine Goad, Tom Boggs, two sets of infant twins, Eva Mae and Everett Boggs, Terry Dean and Jerry Lee Boggs, and an infant brother, Anthony Edward Boggs. Survivors include his children, Melissa Hash, Alonzo Boggs, Jr. and Amy Boggs; the mother of his children, Martha Sapp; his siblings, Art, Ike, Marty, Tim, Eileen and Dave Boggs; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; many special friends. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer. Burial will be in the Whited Cemetery, Gandeeville. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
