Leah Jean Lockney Davis 83 - Sand Ridge

Leah Jean Lockney Davis 83, of Sand Ridge, West Virginia died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, West Virginia.

She was born February 13, 1929 in Bear Fork, Calhoun County, West Virginia a daughter of the late John R. and Eula Schoolcraft Lockney. She attended the one-room school at Bear Fork and Calhoun County High School. She was retired from Spencer State Hospital in Spencer, West Virginia with 28 years of service.

In addition to her parents, Leah was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Davis; siblings Goldie Powell, Wilda Stump and Robert Lockney; infant daughter, Jolene; a niece, Margaret Powell Tyson; and a nephew, Jerry Powell.

She is survived by her four children, Bambi Davis of Pine Creek, West Virginia, Bill Davis of Sand Ridge, Kandi (Darrell) Pingley of Sand Ridge, and Tammy (Ron) Jett of Orma, West Virginia; grandchildren, Jacob, Kaitlyn and Jaron Jett of Orma, and Anne Pingley of Sand Ridge; one niece, Ruth Ann Thompson of Parkersburg, West Virginia; and four nephews, Rev. John Powell and Joe Powell, both of Wadsworth, Ohio, Ralph Powell of Spencer, and Dennis Stump of Sand Ridge.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, August 17, 2012 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, with her nephew, Rev. John Powell officiating. Burial will be in the Sand Ridge Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
