ANTI-BULLYING RALLY PLANNED FOR RIPLEY

Saturday, August 25 the Jackson County Courthouse Square will be buzzing with many anti-bullying activities for all ages from 1:30 until 10:00 p.m. The L.I.K.E. Organization is sponsoring the event to create awareness on how to stop bullying and it is all free. The day will start with the opening ceremony at 1:30 p.m. At 2:00 p.m. "The Bully Show", a game show, presented by a group from St. Albans will begin. At the same time a local Girl Scout Troop will present "A Kingdom Without Bullies". This event will be for babies through 8 years with Storybook Readings, Fish Pond, Ducky Pick-Up and Face Painting. Come visit the Castle, see the dragon and sit on the carpet while being entertained.

Youth Games will begin at 3:00 p.m. for ages 6 years and up. Games consist of Shoot To Score, Hula Hoop Contest, Potato Race, Face Painting, Three Legged Race, Cotton On A Spoon Race, Water Balloon Toss, Cornhole, and much more.

The organization is also hosting a Poster Contest. Bring your hand drawn Stop Bullying Poster, size 8 ½" by 11", to the registration table and enter to be chosen for a calendar. Twelve posters will be chosen. Please include your name and age on the poster. Each winner will receive a free calendar once they have been printed.

To tell your bully story, open mic will be available during the day's event. Each person attending the rally will have the opportunity to put his or her hand print on a Hand In Hand To Stop Bullying Banner. This banner will be displayed during the month of October for Anti-Bullying Month on the Courthouse Gazebo.

At 5:00 p.m. you can enjoy the entertainment of the Anti Bullying Rally Idol contestants. Anyone interested in entering must pre-register by August 15. The fee to enter is $25. There is three categories: 1st Category: Preteen Idol - Ages 8 through 12; 2nd Category: Teen Idol - Ages 13 through 19; 3rd Category: Adult Idol - Ages 20 and over. Winners will receive $100 Cash and a Plaque and one runner-up will receive a plaque. The winners will also open for a band that will perform at 8:00 p.m.

A L.I.K.E. Organization membership table will be available if anyone is interested in becoming a member. Membership is $5.00 per year or $15.00 for a family. All new members signing up at the Rally will receive a backpack. Meetings are held the second Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Jackson General Hospital Learning Center.

The L.I.K.E. Organization will provide concessions.
