Allen Gene Nichols, 65 - Spencer

Allen Gene Nichols, 65, of Spencer, West Virginia died July 28, 2012 at his home.

Allen was born January 17, 1947 in Spencer a son of the late Paul and Dixie Lea Nichols. He formerly worked at Southern States and the West Virginia Department of Highways, attended the Hebron Baptist Church, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a US Army veteran and served as a combat medic while stationed in Japan during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gelski Nichols; three daughters, Michelle Kibbe of Waverly, West Virginia, Angelina Hersman of Spencer, and Christina Rhodes of Tariff, West Virginia; one son, Duane Nichols of Grantsville, West Virginia; five sisters, Kay Drake and Janet Sue Tanner, both of Harmony, West Virginia, Louise Whiting and Pauletta Ann Williams, both of Spencer, and Donna Marie Hall of Reedy, West Virginia; two brothers, Ronzel Paul Nichols of Gandeeville, West Virginia and Garry Leon Nichols of Harmony; and nine grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Lee Summers.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, with Allen's brother, Garry, delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery. Visitation is two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
