GOV. TOMBLIN SEEKING FEDERAL DISASTER RELIEF

(07/19/2012)
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin is requesting a major disaster declaration from the Federal Government to help with the ongoing recovery efforts in West Virginia following the June 29th Derecho storm with hurricane force winds.

The storm left more than 680,000 customers in the state without power.

Tomblin is requesting public assistance in more than 40 counties, and is asking that hazard mitigation funds be available to all 55 counties.

Meanwhile, FEMA continues assessing damaged areas across the state. Individual assessments began this week in several counties, including Calhoun.
