I-79 CRASH IN ROANE DETOURS TRAFFIC MONDAY

(07/17/2012)
Travelers to Charleston experienced delays and a long detour after a tractor-trailer crashed Monday morning on the southbound lane of I-79 just north of the Amma, Roane County exit.

Authorities said the large truck crashed through a guardrail, and had to be pulled back in the highway to be hauled away.

Traffic was detoured off the Wallback exit onto state Route 36 to Clay and then south on state Route 4 to Clendenin in Kanawha County where motorists are directed to U.S. Route 119 and then back to the Interstate.

The roadway was cleared in the afternoon.
