A former Calhoun man and graduate of Calhoun County High School in 1958 has died in Arizona.

Reverend Jerry A. Pence, 72, of Golden Valley, Arizona, was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God since 1981.

Family members said Rev. Pence had just preached a Sunday morning service about "Seeing Jesus Up Close and Personal," when he was struck by a stroke and heart attack and died.

After graduating from high school in Grantsville, he joined the Air Force, went into the printing business and pastored numerous churches, moving to Arizona.
