Leila J. Maxwell, 88 - Ravenswood

Leila J. Maxwell, 88, of Ravenswood, West Virginia, died at 11:50 a.m., Monday, July 9, 2012, in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, after an extended illness.

She was born October 5, 1923 near Spencer WV, the daughter of the late Homer Clark and Orpha Orlena Spencer Jordan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Lionel Maxwell on September 16, 1982; two brothers, Laurence Jordan and Leslie "Jack" Jordan; a sister, Arlena Watson.

Mrs. Maxwell retired from Rockwell International, Columbus OH, in 1982. She was a Methodist and a member of the Wetzel Chapter No. 27, Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two stepsons, Dennis Maxwell and Robert A. Maxwell both of Michigan; two step brothers and sisters-in-law, Murrill and Rita West of Ravenswood and Orville and Tilly West of Stockport OH; a step sister and brother-in-law, Oneida and Jim Hess of Logan OH.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 12 at 1:00 p.m. in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer, with the Rev. Homer H. Hensley officiating. There will be no visitation.

John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
