The Wirt County Office of Emergency Services, the County Commission and the Wirt County Sheriff's Department invites the public to come to the courthouse lawn at 9 PM for a Prayer & Praise event.

Wirt county residents have come to the square many times when the community has been struck by disaster or tragedy.

"We would like everyone to come join us as we look to God and pray for those of our families and friends, neighbors and communities still without power, and offer praise to the community volunteers and West Virginia National Guard who have helped us through this unprecedented event," said Juanita Lockhart. one of the organizers.

"While we are not out of the woods yet, we would like everyone to take a moment, join together, and remember why Wirt County is such a special place to live," Lockhart said.

It will be a night filled with bluegrass and gospel music with family and friends.

"We hope to have plenty of ice and water to hand out, and hope this event can help us begin to heal from the pain we have endured this past week," she concluded.
