REEDY GETS MONEY FOR WATER IMPROVEMENTS

(06/27/2012)
The Town of Reedy is receiving money to make improvements to their water system.

State Director Bobby Lewis announced that USDA Rural Development approved a Water and Waste Disposal Loan of $86,000 and Grant of $244,000 for the Town of Reedy.

The Town of Reedy currently provides public water service to approximately 121 customers in the communities of Reedy and Billings in Roane County.

Rural Development funds will be used to repaint the existing 100,000 gallon storage tank, grade and install stone on the existing access road, construct a 7-foot high security fence, and make any necessary miscellaneous repairs such as base metal patching, tank cleaning, and altitude valve work.

Repairs will also be made to existing pressure reducing valves in the system and to replace a portion of remaining service lines from the original construction.

"The public health benefits realized as a result of this project include a continued safe and stable drinking water supply for the customers of the Reedy Waterworks System," added Lewis.
