MOUNTAINER GAS SEEKING RATE INCREASE FOR RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS |
(06/30/2012) |
Mountaineer Gas has 217,000 customers in 48 West Virginia counties. The Charleston-based company is seeking a rate increase that would boost the bills of typical residential customers by $3.40 per month. Large customers would be exempt. Customers will have a chance to voice concerns during a series of public hearings on the proposed rate increase. AARP West Virginia state director Gaylene Miller says the proposed increase would only compound the daily challenges facing low- to moderate-income residents. The group is urging senior citizens and low-income customers to attend the meeting. The state Public Service Commission is holding public hearings on the proposed rate increase Monday in Charleston, July 5 in Huntington, July 6 in Wheeling and July 12 in Beckley.
